Farmington, MI (July 2, 2015).  Downtown Farmington is starting something new called Farmington Second Fridays (F2F). Businesses will stay open until 9:00 pm and offer specials, promotions and activities on the second Friday in the months of July through October (July 10, August 14, September 11, and October 9). The goal is to create a win-win for both patrons and merchants.

Look for the F2F logo in the windows of participating merchants to plan your evening of fun. Please ask your favorite merchants to contact the Downtown Development Authority if they have not already agreed to extend their hours. A list of all participants will be available for easy reference at www.DowntownFarmington.org.

Those who are fans of Rhythmz in Riley Park, a free outdoor concert series from 7-8:30 pm, will be perfectly positioned to continue enjoying summer fun with the convenience of extended hours for shopping, dining and getting in some light exercise. Timeless architecture and modern shops make strolling through Downtown Farmington a truly enjoyable experience.

“The Farmington Second Fridays series is an exciting opportunity for members of our community and beyond to support local businesses and restaurants while enjoying extended hours, promotions, and great live music,” said DDA Board Member and Project Chair Sean Murphy. “It's a fun way to showcase Downtown Farmington's emerging presence as a social, retail and dining destination.”

Extending business hours and offering patrons the opportunity to make the most of their weekends has been a long time in coming. The perfect ending to a long work week can include not only shopping, but also a delicious meal at one of the fabulous restaurants.  There is a variety to suit every taste. Take advantage of the F2F specials and promotions offered by participating retailers!

Annette Knowles, Assistant to the City Manager/DDA Executive Director, added, "People want to make the most of their evenings and weekends.  Enjoying shopping, free music entertainment and dining close to home and with neighbors, friends and family is an ideal combination.”

In addition to Murphy, Farmington Second Fridays Committee Members include the very engaged local millennials April Lark, Andrea Zimmer and Curtis Iorio, along with DDA Vice-President Rachel Gallagher.
