Ravencrow Poster

They're baaaaack... We're pleased to announce the return of the Grand Raven Festival's Ravencrow Contest, where raven themed-scarecrows inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven will happily haunt Downtown Farmington throughout the month of October.

We were dazzled by the creativity of our community and merchants in last year's contest and we can't wait to see what the sequel brings!  Contest is open to community members and downtown merchants, with registration online by September 29th.

Key Dates:

  • Register your Ravencrow by Sunday, September 29. Click here to register!
  • Ravencrows must be brought to Riley Park to be put on display by 6pm October 1st.
  • Ravencrow contest winners will be announced the week of October 25th.
  • All participants must take down their Ravencrow on Friday, November 5th by 5pm.

All Ravencrow “scarecrows” must incorporate a raven theme.  There will be two categories of entrants:

  1. Residents of Farmington and Surrounding Communities, with Ravencrows for display in and around Riley Park.
  2. Downtown Farmington Merchants, with Ravencrows for display at downtown storefronts.

Ravencrows must be in good taste and appropriate for viewing by the public and families. Must be absent of adult, political and religious themes. No violent, gruesome or bloody entries will be accepted.

The GrandRaven Committee will make every effort to ensure that each entrant is provided a designated location to secure each Ravencrow upright (light poles, etc.)  Ravencrows must be designed and constructed by each entrant to stand upright and be safely secured to withstand all weather conditions. Ravencrows should incorporate some element of hay stuffing.

PLEASE BRING: Twine & scissors with you to help secure your Ravencrow in position to be displayed.
