Farmington, MI. (May 13, 2016). The Farmington Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors welcomed a new member this month when Stephanie Clement, Store Leader at Dressbarn, located at 33025 Grand River Avenue, in the Groves Retail Center, was appointed by the Farmington City Council. Clement was appointed to a four-year term, expiring at the end of February, 2020.
“I was not aware that this opportunity was available to me,” remarked Clement. “In the downtown, a connection to the community is more important than a mall store. I am excited to become more involved and to gain more knowledge about activities happening in the city.”
Additionally, Kathy Griswold (formerly Platzke), Banking Officer at Talmer Bank & Trust, 33205 Grand River Avenue, was reappointed until February 28, 2019, completing a term vacated by Valerie Greer of Mike Greer Photography Greer recently resigned from the board because of other commitments which conflict with meeting times. Griswold originally joined the board in 2014. She has been actively pursuing a project to improve communication between board members and downtown businesses.
“Membership on the DDA board has been rewarding,” commented Griswold. “It is important that we continue to educate and evaluate. Our downtown businesses are important to the community’s success and we are working to make sure they have a voice in decision-making.”
DDA President Rachel Gallagher raved about the addition of Clement and the return of Griswold. “Stephanie and Kathy are dynamic and focused women. With them on the board, we will maintain a high-level of commitment and will continue to make educated decisions moving forward.”
