Farmington Downtown
Development Authority
Board of Directors
There are currently two vacancies on the
Farmington Downtown Development Authority board.
Dave’s roots in
Farmington
go back to the late 1950s when he moved here as a young boy with his
family.
He serves on the Board of Directors for the
Farmington/Farmington Hills Chamber of Commerce as well as numerous
other community service organizations.
He is a past president of the
Michigan
chapter of the National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives,
a position held during his 25-year career in corporate finance, real
estate and investment management. He
holds a degree in finance and economics from the
University
of
Michigan
.
As the owner of Suburban Real Estate Group in Downtown
Farmington, Dave is actively involved in both the residential and
commercial
Farmington
real estate markets. He is a
partner and managing member of a number of commercial properties in and
around
Farmington
. His client list includes
many
Farmington
residents, as well as the family of Governor Fred M. Warner, a
relationship that spans more than 25 years.
Dave was appointed to Farmington’s DDA Board in 2007. He
believes his background in real estate and property management will be
useful in continuing to move Downtown Farmington forward.
Greg has been involved in the Farmington Main Street Program from
its inception and is past chairman of the DDA’s Economic Restructuring
Committee. Greg, his wife
Maureen and Greg’s brothers are Farmington residents and shareholders in John Cowley & Sons.
This second-generation family business is one of Downtown
Farmington’s best known establishments.
Greg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University
of Detroit. When not busy with
Cowley’s he is employed at ADP managing the National Account Sales Team in
Michigan.
Team Cowley is committed to success and the
rebirth of Farmington.
After growing up in San Diego
and a short stint in Seattle, Scott and his wife, Tracy, moved to
Michigan in 1987. A couple years
later, they settled into a 1927 home in Farmington and have enjoyed
living within walking distance to Downtown Farmington
ever since.
Scott has been active as a volunteer with the
DDA’s Promotions Committee since 2002. In 2005 he was appointed to the Downtown Development
Authority’s Board of Directors as a resident.
“As a DDA board member, I hope to contribute
ideas and take action that will help Downtown Farmington continue its
progress within the Main Street model” says Freeman. He encourages
Farmington residents to get more involved in their community
by attending
council meetings and volunteering for community events. He
suggests calling the DDA or visiting the DDA and City of Farmington Web sites
to get information.
When he isn’t involved with DDA activities he
works as a technical director at WWJ-TV and WKBD-TV. He likes to
travel, with his wife, to lesser-visited places in the world.
Dan Higgins
Michelle Jakacki
James, a suspension
design engineer at DaimlerChrysler, and his wife, Kristin, live blocks
away from Downtown Farmington. "Farmington has a small-town feel, yet it’s minutes from the freeway and 30
minutes from most anything in metro-Detroit” says Kuiken.
Appointed to the
DDA Board of Directors in 2005 as a resident member, James is chariman
of the DDA’s Economic Restructuring (ER) Committee. This involvement has enabled him to be part of higher level
discussions between the DDA and the City of Farmington concerning
parking issues and proposed solutions as well as business recruitment
and retention.
There are
similarities between Downtown Farmington and Old Town
in Ft. Collins, Colorado, where James grew up.
Through
vision and hard work, Old Town, was revitalized.
James
knows that can happen right here in Downtown Farmington. With Farmington’s tremendous pride and outstanding volunteers, he sees visible,
continued progress toward a better, more vibrant downtown.
Michael was appointed to the Farmington
DDA Board of Directors in March 2007. He and his wife Deborah are
the owners of M. Mazzoni Jewelers, located in the Village Commons.
He is the past president of the Garden
City Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club and has served on the Board of
Directors of Western Golf and Country Club.
Vincent
is a board member by virtue of his roll as Farmington's City Manager and
serves as the DDA Board Secretary. He came to the City of
Farmington as its City Manager in February 2003. Downtown Farmington's Main Street program
is also fortunate in having Vincent as chairman of its Organization Committee.
Prior to coming to Farmington, Mr. Pastue served as the Isabella County, Michigan Administrator for
almost 6 years. Prior to that, he spent five years as the City
Manager in Clare and two years in Belding as the Assistant City Manager.
His professional career began as a Senior Budget Analyst with the Lee
County, Florida (Fort Myers) Office of Management and Budget.
Mr. Pastue has an
undergraduate degree from the
University
of
Michigan-Flint
and completed graduate course work in the Master of Public
Administration Program at Michigan State
University. Mr. Pastue and his wife Annette have two sons.
Bob is a resident of Farmington. He grew up in
Farmington Hills and has lived in the area since 1964. A graduate
of Wayne State University Mortuary School, he is the owner of
Thayer-Rock Funeral Home which was established in Downtown Farmington in
1933.
Bob was appointed to the DDA in 2007. Bob thinks
"it is important that we support the businesses in our community
and make an effort to shop and dine in our Downtown".
Steven was appointed to the Farmington Downtown Development
Authority Board of Directors in March 2006. He also has been a volunteer on the DDA’s Main Street Design
Committee. As Principal of
S3 Architecture, PLLC with offices in Downtown Farmington, he has
provided valuable input to that committee. He also operates
the Farmington Development Group, LLC which is responsible for the
development of Downtown Farmington’s The Orchard Condominiums.
Steven teaches architectural design at Lawrence
Technological University and has chaired the Farmington Zoning Board of Appeals and the
Main Street Design Committee. He has lived in the historic district of
Farmington with his wife Jennifer and three daughters since 1999.
As an owner of the oldest Farmington
business and landmark in the central business district, Mark feels
this Board position is one of great importance, and allows him the
privilege of input on the direction and development of this
great community.
Mark came to
Farmington
and began employment at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home following
graduation from Wayne
State
University's Mortuary Science Program in July 1988.
In 1994, he became
co-owner with, and successor to, Mr. Walter E. Sundquist, the
firm's longtime President and benefactor of Downtown Farmington's new
pavilion. He was initially appointed to the DDA Board of Directors
in 1994 and was recently reappointed by Farmington City Council to
another term.
Mark is married to Jody, his wife of 10
years, and a proud father of three children.
