Farmington Area Founders Festival, Farmington Michigan

Farmington Area
Founders Festival

In mid-July, the Farmington Area Founders Festival draws thousands of families to Downtown Farmington, Michigan.

Established to celebrate Farmington’s recognition as the state’s first Quaker settlement, Founders Festival continues to represent the rich cultural heritage of Farmington and Farmington Hills.

Crafters from around the country display their artwork and wares for sale and vendors offer a wide variety of food and snacks.  Children’s activities abound, and Farmington rocks around the clock with musical acts and specialty entertainment for all ages.

A highlight of the three-day event, the Founders Festival parade, begins Saturday morning at the Farmington Uptown Plaza and winds up at the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Farmington Road. The Founders Café serves as “reunion central,” as people gather to catch up and enjoy live music every night – while enjoying Ox Roast sandwiches made with 200 pounds of prime aged beef, plain or barbecued.

Historical tours, artwork, the Farmington/Farmington Hills Chamber of Commerce raffle and special movies at the Civic Theater are just some of the many wonderful features that keep people coming back year after year.
